TAV Airports is Selected Best Airport in Three Categories at EMA Awards
TAV Airports is awarded in three categories at the Emerging Markets Airport Awards where the best players in the aviation industry are selected. At the award ceremony held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, TAV Airports was selected “Best Airport Operator.” Tbilisi Airport in Georgia and Monastir Habib Bourguiba International Airport in Tunisia, both operated by TAV Airports, were selected as the best players in their region.
The Emerging Markets Airport Awards entertained aurthorities from the international aviation industry in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and TAV Airports was selected as “Best Airport Operator.” In addition, Tbilisi Airport in Georgia, operated by TAV Airports, was selected as the Best Emerging Airport - Russia, CIS and Baltic States. Monastir Habib Bourguiba Airport in Tunisia, also operated by TAV Airports, was selected as the Best Emerging Airport in Africa, surpassing all other African airports.
TAV Airports Holding Chief Executive Officer M. Sani Şener stated: “It is the year 2010; the 10th anniversary of the foundation of TAV Airports, and we are operating 10 airports in Turkey, Georgia, Tunisia, and Macedonia. We are proud to be selected as the “Best Airport Operator” at the EMAA, which takes the pulse of the emerging aviation industry, thanks to the airports we have been operating. Besides it is really important for us that the airports we are operating in Georgia and Tunisia were awarded “Best Airport” in their regions as we are making big investments in the emerging markets as TAV Airports. These awards do really motivate TAV employees.”
Şener took attention the international achievements of TAV Airports: “We are glad that our airports in Tunisia and Georgia were also awarded as our airports at home. Last year we hosted more than 42 million people at our terminals. In the first financial quarter of 2010 we increased the number of passengers at our terminals as 19% compared to the same period of last year. Our success lies in being prepared for every occurrence and maintaining a visionary outlook.”
Istanbul Ataturk Airport, operated as well by TAV, was selected as a “Magnet for Transit Flights” among the top 50 travel centers of the world by Monocle magazine, the most prestigious global business and lifestyle magazine. Moreover, Atatürk Airport was ranked the “Best Airport” in Southern Europe at “The World’s Best Airports 2010” awards event organized by Skytrax Research, leading research advisors to the world airline and air transport industry based in London.
Held for the first time this year, the Emerging Markets Airport Awards has been organized to take the pulse of the aviation industry in emerging markets. EMAA, an event entertaining the leading players in the aviation industry, is planned to be held annually.
