TAV Airports in Berlin
As an international brand, TAV Airports was on hand to represent the airports it operates in Turkey, Georgia, Tunisia and Macedonia at the 45th ITB International Tourism Exchange, one of the world's largest tourism conventions. TAV Airports stands were on display to promote both these airports and the cities they are based in.
TAV Airports, one of the leading brands in the airport operations sector, participated in the ITB International Tourism Exchange held in Berlin, Germany's from March 9-13th. The event saw the participation of 11,163 firms from 188 countries including Turkey. TAV Airports was on hand to promote the airports it operates in Turkey, Georgia, Macedonia and Tunisia at this year’s ITB Berlin event, where tens of thousands of visitors and participating firms come together every year.
TAV Airports CEO M. Sani Sener stated, "As an international brand of Turkey, being part of this event is very important to us. Our main priority in attending this fair is to promote Turkey on the basis of Turkey's frontage facing Europe.” Sener continued, "Our airports are the most important connection points for Turkey to the rest of the world. Passengers visiting our country for business or tourism glean their first impressions of the country at our airports. This shows the significance of airports. The airports in the four largest cities in Turkey are operated by TAV Airports. These are Istanbul Atatürk, Ankara Esenboga, Izmir Adnan Menderes and Antalya Gazipasa. We believe that we have an important responsibility in this respect." Sener emphasized that they also promoted the airports in Tunisia, Georgia and Macedonia at ITB Berlin.
TAV Izmir, one of TAV Airports Holding's operating companies was also a participant in the fair along with the Destination Izmir Group in order to promote the tourism potential of Izmir and its surrounding region to the global tourism market. Destination Izmir is working to introduce Izmir as a new tourism destination and carve a niche for Izmir as a well known international brand.
The ITB Berlin Tourism Exchange brings together thousands of company professionals, tour operators, and tens of thousands of consumers from all over the world. The fair was held for the 45th time this year and is regarded as a trendsetter in the sector, showcasing the latest trends and new technologies as well as the newest tourism destinations.
The International Tourism Exchange was launched in 1966 with five participating countries as part of an overseas exporters fair. Since then, the fair has grown significantly, achieving global success. Initially restricted to 580 square meters, the fair area has now grown to 150 thousand square meters. The number of visitors has increased from 250 to over 100,000. With over 10 thousand firms and approximately 180 thousand visitors from 187 countries, ITB Berlin has become one of the largest tourism fairs in the world. TAV Airports has been participating in ITB Berlin since 2002.
