Sani Şener among top leaders in construction in GCC

TAV Group President & CEO Sani Şener ranked ninth in the power 100 list of Construction Week Magazine, which is one of the most prestigious magazines of the industry, concerning the construction sector in the Gulf Region. Şener became the only Turkish business person in the top 10 list of 2016.

TAV Group President & CEO Sani Şener was listed amongst the top 10 companies of the construction sector operating in the Gulf Region by Construction Week. Whilst the magazine informed about the projects of TAV in the region, the article also highlighted that despite the flurry of recent project completions in the Middle East, TAV would again be busy with the ongoing Abu Dhabi and Bahrain projects.

We are glad to hear that our Madinah Project was also awarded the airport of the year title by MEED magazine. It is not a coincidence to be presented both of these awards at the same time. It is the payoff for the hard work of almost 54,000 TAV Group employees including engineers, architects, technicians and workers assigned in the projects achieved in Gulf Region, which has become the most challenging market of the world. TAV has become an expert and a popular brand in airport sector. TAV has signature on 10 airports in five countries

Topping the list of ENR in airport construction industry for the last two years, TAV Construction has undertaken several projects having a total contract value of $18.3 billion since its establishment. The company has recently been awarded the construction of Bahrain Airport following the construction of airports located at the capital cities of Qatar, Oman, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

TAV Airports also operates Madinah Airport in Saudi Arabia. Together with TAV IT, ATU Duty Free, BTA, Havaş and TAV Operation Services, the subsidiaries of the company, TAV is providing services at Riyadh, Dammam and Jeddah airports besides Madinah Airport.

TAV also has operations at Abu Dhabi and Dubai in United Arab Emirates, Doha in Qatar; Salalah and Muscat in Oman; and Bahrain airports in Bahrain.

Madinah receives award

Standing out with the airport projects completed in Turkey and the countries within the region, TAV Construction was awarded during MEED Quality Awards competition held by MEED, one of the most reputable publications in the sector. Completed by TAV Construction with an investment of 1.1 billion dollars, Madinah Airport, the first airport privatization project in Saudi Arabia, was presented the "Airport Project of the Year" award by a jury consisting of the leading names of the sector. 

The award was presented during the MEED Construction Summit held in Dubai. Madinah Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz Airport is the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold certificated airport given by the United States Green Buildings Council (USGBC) in the MENA region and the eight in the world.

Şener listed in top 10 for the last two years

The list was determined by analyzing the works of business people, employee numbers, the revenues, the current and future projects, general status in the market and operation levels in the construction industry of the region. In addition the companies were evaluated in terms of their attitudes towards economic parameters, the strategies, which they adapt to continue growth, their flexibilities and adaptation for the obstacles and problems.

Ranking 10th business person in power 100 list in 2015 and 14th in 2013 and 2014, Şener was listed as 15th in 2012, 18th in 2011 and 88th in 2010.
