TAV listed in Borsa Istanbul Sustainability Index

TAV Airports is listed in the sustainability index established by Borsa Istanbul in order to create a platform on responsible investments.

TAV Airports, the leading global brand of Turkey in airport operations, is included in the newly established Sustainability Index of Borsa Istanbul (BIST). TAV successfully met the corporate governance, environmental and social performance criteria assessed by independent institutions and was listed in the index.

TAV Airports Business Development and Investments Vice President Serkan Kaptanstated "TAV Airports places sustainability in focus of all operations. We believe that financial returns are not eligible unless it generates social benefit. Today, having 23,000 members, TAV family has operations at 14 airports in seven countries. Contributing to the development in the geographies we operate, we work to reduce the environmental impacts of our operations to minimum levels while producing at a maximum level for our stakeholders. Established by Borsa Istanbul, Sustainability Index is a significant initiative that will encourage the long-term investments with social benefits. We are happy to be listed in this index which offers a safe option for the stock exchange investors."

Borsa İstanbul has signed a cooperation agreement with Ethical Investment Research Services Limited (EIRIS), a London based independent research and assessment company, to calculate its sustainability index. Whilst the works started in 2013, firstly BIST 30 companies were listed. Amongst these 30 companies listed in BIST 30, only 15 of them, including TAV Airports, have been listed in the Sustainability Index.

TAV Airports is the second company having the highest corporate governance grade in Turkey. The company is also one of the leading companies that decrease carbon emissions and use natural resources efficiently. Within this frame, TAV became one of the seven companies having the highest performance in fighting against climate change last year, within the scope of Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP).

Operated by TAV Airports, Ankara Esenboğa Airport was listed amongst top 17 environmentally-friendly airports of the world under Carbon Accreditation Program of ACI (Airport Council International) Europe. Istanbul Atatürk and Izmir Adnan Menderes airports are also participating in the program. Enfidha Airport, operated by TAV in Tunisia, became the first airport participating in the project from the Africa continent. Having recycled or reused 99 per cent of the waste generated during the new domestic terminal project at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport, TAV received the “Innovative Sustainability Practices” award presented by Sustainable Development Association (SKD).

Istanbul Atatürk Airport, which has a system offering disabled passengers independent access to all services, was the only good practice from Turkey in the Zero Project held in Vienna in terms of accessibility.

Being amongst the members of 'Equal Opportunities Platform' set up in trust of the Ministry of Family and Social Policies, TAV works on qualifying for the 'Equal Opportunities Model' certificate issued by KAGIDER (Women Entrepreneurs Association of Turkey).
