800 senior executives of 1751 airports meet in Istanbul
The general assembly of ACI World, the global platform of airport operators and ACI Europe, gathered in Istanbul under TAV hospitality. During the next five days, more than 800 senior executives representing 1751 airports in 174 countries will be discussing the future of aviation and airports.
TAV Airports, Turkey’s leading brand in airport operation, is hosting more than 800 senior executives in Istanbul, who governs 95% of the global air traffic. Airport Council International, the main organization of the airport operators and ACI Europe has decided to hold their general assembly meetings in Istanbul this year.
Following the general assembly meetings that took place over the weekend, the airports, new trends in aviation and foresights are being discussed during the conference and exhibition held at Istanbul Congress Center. The event is also important in terms of sharing experiences amongst the sector representatives and new business opportunities.
Transformation of aviation will be discussed at the conference
The fair and conference will be opened tomorrow (11th of June) with the speeches to be delivered by TAV Airports CEO Sani Sener, State Airport Authority (DHMI) General Manager Orhan Birdal, ACI World President Yiannis Paraschis and ACI World General Secretary Angela Gittens.
TAV Airports CEO Sani Sener will be a speaker during the panel titled “Successful Business Transformation through Dynamic Leadership” which will take place between 13:15 and 15.15 hours. Sener will be sharing the story of TAV Airports becoming one of the leading operators in the world in a short period of time and his vision on the future.
Other speakers in the panel are; ACI Vice President Rick Piccolo, Toronto Airport Operator (GTAA) CEO Howard Egg, London Gatwick Airport CEO Stewart Wingate, EUROCONTROL General Director Frank Brenner and Infraero President Antonio Gustavo Matos Do Vale.
Two awards ceremonies
The event will also host two awards ceremonies. This evening (10th of June), ACI Europe will be presenting the ninth "Best Airport Awards".
Tomorrow (11th of June), ACI World will be announcing the winners of the “Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards” which have been presented since 2006 and are determined entirely based on the experience of passengers.
Intensive program featuring various activities
Being the host of the event TAV Airports is offering an intensive program for the participants. A city tour will be organized on Tuesday for the participant senior executives and their guests coming to Istanbul.
The representatives of aviation industry will also have the opportunity to participate in the terminal tour at Ataturk Airport, which has the highest growth pace in air traffic serving 45 million passengers last year, and observe the daily operational routine.
Leading global airport operators will be presenting their brand-new services and products at the fair to be held at Istanbul Congress Center simultaneously with ACI Conference. The subsidiaries of TAV Airports, TAV IT and ATÜ Duty-Free, one of the gold sponsors of the event, will meet the visitors at their booths.
