Global aviation professionals meet at Airex 2012 under TAV’s sponsorship
Airex 2012 International Civil Aviation and Airports Exhibitions is now open for visitors. The event is considered as one of the leading aviation organizations and held under the main sponsorship of TAV Airports between September 6th and 9th. The exhibition was opened by the Minister of Transportation, Maritime Affairs and Communication Binali Yildirim. Yildirim also opened the exhibition at the TAV Airport’s culture and art platform TAV Gallery, showcasing combination of photographs by SpotTR photographers. The exhibition represents the aesthetics of the aviation.
The 9th Airex Exhibition 2012 held under the main sponsorship of TAV Airports brought together the leading representatives of the aviation sector during the first day. The exhibition was opened by the Minister of Transportation, Maritime Affairs and Communication Binali Yildirim. During his speech, Yildirim said "It is not a coincidence that this by-yearly exhibition has gradually been attracting more interest since 1996. We can see the progress achieved in the aviation sector in Turkey within the past 10 years. The aviation sector in Turkey has been rapidly growing despite the unfavorable global circumstances.” The Minister Yildirim also announced the target for 2023: In 2023, 375 million people will be flying in Turkey. This is the new target. One third of these flights will be from Istanbul at the least. The total airport capacity will exceed 400 million. The number of aircrafts will at least be doubled.
TAV Airports CEO M. Sani Sener said “The 9th Airex Exhibition is one of the major events demonstrating the development of the Turkish aviation industry. Having opened its doors for the first time in 1996 to four thousand visitors with four aircrafts, this year the exhibition is hosting 153companies and nearly 50 aircrafts from 48 countries. Airex offers visitors an aviation festival where visitors were introduced to giant passenger aircrafts besides the business jets, helicopters and single-engine sports aircrafts. The level of participation to the exhibition is also an indication of the advancement in Turkish economy. TAV is almost of the same age with the exhibition and today, we have 12 airports in six countries across three continents in our journey that we have started with Ataturk Airport. We have expanded the know-how and experience we had gained in Istanbul to different destinations in the world together with our distinctive integrated service model, and secured our position amongst today’s global brands of the airport operation sector. We are happy to have Airex once more at Istanbul Ataturk Airport. We continue working 24/7 in harmony with all our stakeholders to ensure that our aviation industry maintains its progress and reach to the point it deserves as one of the few civil aviation centers in Istanbul and Turkey.”
On the first day of Airex 2012 where TAV Airports is participating in with all its airport operation and service companies present at its 94 m2 stand, the visitors will have the chance to see the world’s largest passenger aircraft Airbus A380. Arriving to Istanbul early hours this morning, the Airbus A380 has landed at Ataturk Airport for the third time to take place at Airex 2012.
Besides the aircraft engines and all types of air vehicles including passengers aircrafts, business jets, helicopters, sports aircrafts, the exhibition also showcases flight control systems, simulators, ground, cargo, passenger luggage system and equipment, apron and terminal systems, airport security and integration systems. The participants include airport and terminal operators who are the leading representatives of the aviation sector as well as airlines, charter and air taxi operators, aviation clubs and occupational organizations.
