Golden Compass UNDP Special Award to TAV Airports

Having adopted the environmental sustainability as a principle since its establishment, TAV Airports received the Golden Compass UNDP Special Award for its sponsorship communication activities realized as part of Global Warming Assembly organized by the Association of Economy Journalists (EGD). One of the world’s leading corporations in the airports projects and operations sector, TAV Airports returned from the 11th Golden Compass Awards held by Public Relations Association of Turkey (TUHID) with an award in the "Sponsorship Communication-Environment" category. TAV Airports was presented the award for its communication activities carried out as part of the support it provided to the Global Warming Assembly organized by the Association of Economy Journalists (EGD). TAV Airports Corporate Communications Coordinator Bengi Vargul said “TAV Airports, a global brand in the airport operations sector, considers the fight against climate change very crucial for the future of the human race. As a reflection of this sense of responsibility, TAV Airports has prepared its sustainability reports in compliance with international GRI standards and shares all its sustainability activities and the course of action with the public, particularly fight against climate change. As a consequence of these policies, TAV has become the sponsor of the 4th Global Warming Assembly organized by EGD, which offers an important discussion and sharing platform. We are very happy to be awarded for our efforts, at the Golden Compass Awards which is one of the most respectable events in the public relations sector in Turkey. This award has encouraged us further to focus our efforts on maintaining a habitable planet.” As the end of the Global Warming Assembly organized by EGD and attended by approximately one thousand people from various sectors, a final declaration was announced explaining the substantial actions that are planned to motivate the society. The Assembly Transcript including the declaration was sent to 5 thousand people. The Assembly was attended by all printed, visual, audio and digital media representatives and pre and post news were announced in the media. TAV also announced its sponsorship to its 21 thousand employees working in Turkey, Georgia, Tunisia, Macedonia, Saudi Arabia and Latvia. In addition, TAV informed the members of the European Airports Association about the Assembly. The selection committee for the awards given in the category of United Nations Development Program (UNDP) consisted of the following names: Rauf Ates (Capital Publishing Director), Hansin Dogan (UNDP Private Sector and Development Center Deputy Director), Aysegul Ildeniz (Intel Deputy General Manager), Gonca Karakas (Effect Public Relations President), Uygar Ozesmi (Greenpeace Mediterranean Region Director), Melek Pulatkonak (Microsoft Turkey Deputy General Manager), Doc. Dr. Ulvi Saran (Mayor of Malatya), Berna Ulman (Visa Regional Director), Fugen Toksu (Turkish Public Relations Association President).
